Leprechaun Run (thumbnail photos of race)
History of the Race
The first Leprechaun Run was held on March 13, 1993. This date is well remembered at Wrightsville Beach as the day of the most famous "Storm of the Century". Winds blew steady at over 80 knots for several hours causing damage to power lines, boats and docks. The race was extremely difficult as the finishing half of the 3k is on the beach. Runners fought high tides and winds to finish the race.
